Sunderland International Airshow 2010
Sunderland International Airshow is one of the biggest free seafront shows in Europe and always presents an impressive line-up. Amongst the gems appearing in 2010 were a B-52 Stratofortress flyby, a beach assault by Royal Marines and a now rare display by an RAF Harrier.
Popular regulars included the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with 2 Spitfires and a Dakota, the Breitling Wingwalkers, the Falcons Parachute Team and of course The Red Arrows.
New this year was a Friday evening sunset display and the Swift Glider Team presented a spectacular UK first – wingtip pyrotechnics – and the Dutch F16 with full reheat filled the night sky with noise and flame. Hunter “Miss Demenour” in her fiery livery complemented the setting sun.
In the day show the action just kept coming – F-86 Sabre, Merlin, Twister Duo, Hangar 11’s P40 and P51, search and rescue demo and Typhoon headed a big RAF turnout.
