IWM Duxford September Air Show 2012
Fabulous varied Duxford show in brilliant clear sunny weather.
So many highlights including a WW1 gaggle of RE8, Albatross DV.a, Nieuport 17 and Fokker Dr1, a trio of big biplanes – Swordfish, Rapide and An-2, Norwegian Air Force Vampires and F-16s (and a brief glimpse of their T-33 jet) and a 4-ship F-15C flypast coutesy the USAF.
Piston fighters on show included 4 Spitfires, 2 Me109s (Bouchons) Hurricane, P-47 Thunderbolt, P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustang, Bearcat and Fennec. Heavies included B-17 Sally-B, C47 Skytrain ” Drag ’em oot” and local Catalina.
The RAF provided strong support with Hawk Tucano and Tornado role demo and the blue skies were a perfect backdrop for The Red Arrows, The Aerostars and Anna Walker’s accomplished Jungmann display..
… and the Vulcan made its first Duxford appearance for 4 years.
