RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2014
A truly international event with nine nations and 11 air arms attending, Yeovilton’s Air Day 2014 was blessed with great weather for its six hours of flying.
This is the only military show in the UK that permits flare firing and the resident Sea King and Lynx and visiting F/A-18 Hornet and F-16 Fighting Falcon used this important self-defence feature to great effect. The big explosions that accompanied the airfield assault finale just added to the spectacle.
The Vulcan brought the noise and some important warbirds brought the ‘music’ in this important D-Day anniversary year.
The 3 international prop’ teams included the rarely seen “Baby Blue” from Denmark but Rich Goodwin and his much modified and beefed-up “Muscle Pitts” took everyone’s breath away. The show star Sea Vixen was unserviceable so we include some footage from another event as a bonus.
