British Airshows 2015
The 2015 airshow season was exceptional, but not necessarily for positive reasons.
For the first time in over 60 years, members of the public were tragically killed when a Hunter hit a busy road outside Shoreham airfield, curtailing what was destined to be one of the best shows of the year. We show the highlights prior to the accident.
Duxford was an appropriate venue to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain where 15 Spitfires and 2 Seafires flew together in a formation and exhilarating tail chase.
A thread through the whole season was the impending end to display flying for Avro Vulcan XH558. Huge numbers swelled the shows to see her last flights not least at RIAT where ‘that’ take off will be a lasting memory.
