IWM Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2017
In September 2017, the Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show brought to life Duxford’s finest hour as an important Second World War fighter station defending Great Britain from aerial attack in 1940.
The air display was opened by members of the modern day RAF, the Falcons Parachute Display Team, but the focus throughout is on warbird action.
The Battle of Britain theme focused on two types synonymous with the battle, with a mass Spitfire formation of 13 aircraft and no fewer than 6 Hurricanes airborne together. The finale flypast cemented the theme with the Hurricanes joined by Blenheim, Gladiator and 3 MkI Spitfires for an unforgettable sight and sound.
