British Airshows 2018
This programme brings together the very best aviation action from PlanesTV’s 2018 British airshows season.
Focusing on the centenary celebration’s of the Royal Air Force we visit 4 #RAF100 events alongside 3 other superb shows.
The season kicked off with a trip to Duxford to witness the return of Thunderbolt G-THUN to the scene as well as a rare appearance of the Farner Werke Schlepp C-3605 in the flying display
A visit to Air Day at Yeovilton for the Royal Navy’s big show included the fabulous combination of a pair of French Rafales joined by solo Falcon 50 and two historic naval types, the Paris and Zéphyr
The RAF100 element of the programme focuses on RAF Cosford Airshow and their fabulous line up of overseas participants as well as an excellent showing from the modern RAF. We visit central London for the RAF’s 103 aircraft flypast over the Mall, just prior to the international celebration of the centenary at the Royal International Air Tattoo. Our final large event of the year was the Battle of Britain Airshow at Duxford in September, the climax being the formation display of no fewer than 18 Spitfires.
The last event in this programme offers a reminder that after a difficult period, classic jet aviation still has a bright future in the UK. The highlight of Jet Fest at North Weald was the unveiling and taxi run of the Gnat Display Team’s F1 fighter variant of the Folland Aircraft design. The team hopes to fly the aircraft in 2019.

A great compilation
Many thanks to PlanesTV for a great Christmas present.
2018 was always going to be an impossible year to follow (and so it turned out to be), but it was great to be reminded of Air Shows at their very best (in my 40+ years of attending them, anyway).
My highlight from 2018 has to be spotting the (totally unexpected) B-2 Spirit holding off to the right at Fairford – a sight I’ll never forget.
Thanks again, PlanesTV, for a fabulous compilation, and all with virtually no background music.
All the best for 2020; I’ll see you at Cosford.
Thank you for this unexpected Christmas gift, it was great to watch and enjoy.
