The star acts at Airbourne 2014 were undoubtedly the Red Arrows in their 50th year displaying on all 4 days of the show and the 2 Lancasters, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s PA474 being joined by ‘Vera’, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Lancaster during its UK tour and debuting here at Eastbourne.
As if that were not enough the RAF supported the event in force with Typhoon, Tucano, Tutor, Chinook and Sea King in its last Eastbourne appearance before retirement.
Several classic jets included a pair of Gnats reminiscent of the early days of the Red Arrows plus the Royal Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron Vampire. Rare amongst the warbirds was a Mkl Spitfire showing its RJ Mitchell lines.
A host of other crowd pleasers included the Breitling Wingwalkers and 2 parachute teams demonstrating precision landings on the beach right in front of the crowd.
