“RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk is the largest USAF base in the UK with the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing in residence. Their big two day airshow always attracts something special.
1992 was no exception with rare displays from a USAF ‘ Wild Weasel’ Phantom, dramatic 2 ship flying by French Jaguars and Mirage IIIs, no less than 6 of The Fighter Collection’s veteran warbirds including the P38 Lightning and last but not least an impressive tactical attack by the home team’s FIII’s and F15E’s.
An RAF Phantom in one of its last ever displays gave as spirited a performance as the Jet Provost’s was polished and good weather on both days made for some thrilling material all round.”
