The Road to the Second World War Our minicams take us on board the Bristol F2B and Nieuport 17 who flew with the BE2e to illustrate the development of aircraft from the First World War onwards and how Britain, and RAF Duxford, prepared for the outbreak of the Second World War
On the Defensive – Britain Stood Alone Success in the Battle of Britain was vital to the war effort. The debut of the Aircraft Restoration Company’s newly restored Bristol Blenheim in beautiful formation with two Mark 1 Spitfires illustrated the period.
Celebrating Peace and Commemorating Sacrifice The emotions that surrounded VE Day were evoked with displays from the Red Arrows and Typhoon wearing the colours of a Battle of Britain Hurricane.
VE Day Salute B-17G ‘Sally B’ led the VE Day centerpiece – a mass flypast with C-47 Skytrain, Catalina, Beech 18, Mustangs and P-40F Warhawk.
